Green Mountain Campground offers that special blend of being far enough from town that there is no corner store while being close enough that the drive to and from home is a part of the total pleasant getaway. Located southwest of Denver, CO at an elevation of 7,500 feet, Green Mountain Campground offers a wonderful opportunity for individuals or families to enjoy the great outdoors. Southfork Creek runs through the campground and numerous trails provide ample hiking and biking opportunities only a mile away.
This campsite is strictly a first-come, first-served basis.
The following restrictions apply to this campground:
- Maximum 8 persons per site, 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 recreation vehicle.
- Dogs must be leashed at all times.
- No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
- Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground.
- Camping is NOT ALLOWED behind a LOCKED GATE.

Green Mountain Campground is a VERY popular campground. Because it has been listed in so many recreation guides and books, people tend to show up on Thursday for weekend camping. All sites are first come first served and must be occupied to be considered “saved”. Almost every weekend is packed at this campground.
As Green Mountain Campground is TENTS ONLY, one must park and walk in to the campsite. All equipment must be packed in to the campsite. Hand Pump for water and Vault toilets available.
From U.S. Highway 285 turn south at Pine Junction on to Jefferson County Road 126 for 13.5 miles to Forest Service Road 550. Travel west for 5.5 miles. Stay left for another 2.5 miles. Green Mountain campground will be on the left.
