Coaldale Campground is located on the banks of Hayden Creek and is a quiet campground with only 10 campsites. Most of the campsites are walk-in sites with small parking areas. Water is available at Hayden Creek Campground. The area is thick with gamble oak, juniper, and cottonwood trees . Sites 1-5 are walk-in sites for tent camping. Vault toilet is available only during peak season

Campground Information
Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available.
First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the SAME NIGHT.
Golden Age and Golden Access Cardholder: 50% discount off the camping fee only.
The following restrictions apply to this campground:

  • Maximum 8 persons per site.
  • Maximum RV length is 25 ft.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
  • Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground.
  • Camping is NOT ALLOWED behind a LOCKED GATE.
Camping & Recreation

This campground is located in “Bear Country” and campers should be mindful that any food, drink or edible items will attract bears. Campers must dispose of all trash at nearby Hayden Creek campground which is located 1 mile south of the campground. Coolers must be put away and locked in a hard-sided vehicle.

Fishing is available in Hayden Creek.

Services & Facilities

No water available, Vault toilet is available only during peak season.

Parking is available for sites 1-5 near the entrance to the campground. Sites 6-10 have small parking pads but large RV’s cannot fit into most of the parking sites.

Directions

To get to this campground from Salida, travel 15 miles on Highway 50 east toward Canon City. Just outside of Coaldale, watch for signs indicating access to “Cutty’s Resort” and Hayden Creek. Turn right at the signs and get on Fremont County Road 6. County Road 6 travels south, winding up towards Hayden Pass. Cutty’s Resort (private) is located on the left and about .25 miles past the resort is Coaldale campground.
