This heavily-used campground is located about 16 miles up Icicle Creek Road/ Forest Road 7600, at the confluence of Icicle Creek and Chatter Creek. The campground consists of 12 single sites which cannot be reserved in advance, and one group site which must be reserved in advance at recreation.gov. Vault toilets, garbage service, and a small group shelter with a fireplace are maintained. The campground is close to the trailheads for many popular hiking trails. There is a nightly fee per vehicle parked in each site.
Kachess Campground is a pleasant 5-1/2 mile drive from Interstate 90, Exit 62. The 92 acre Forest Service facility is located on the northwest shore of Kachess Lake with Little Kachess Lake to the immediate north. Set in dense old-growth evergreens and surrounded by high mountains, Kachess Campground has over 100 campsites and one group campsite (by reservation only). It is an excellent location for family camping.
There are two boat launches and a picnic area. These water access points accommodate cartoppers and trailer boats and there is parking for vehicles & trailers. The south boat launch is paved; and the north boat launch is maintained gravel. On busy summer weekends, the boat launch and day use parking areas fill up fast.

The campground has 11 single campsites and 3 double campsites. It is a popular gathering place for trail riders to head up into the mountains on several popular trails. The campground has spacious tenting and RV sites. Opening date dependent on snow melt and access to the trails may be held back until late June or early July.
Horses must be kept in the corrals and no high-lining or hobbles are allowed. The corrals are located in a common area with two water troughs on opposite sides of the corrals and the corrals are not near the campsites. Horses need to be sociable as the corrals share common boundaries.
