SAN PABLO REOPENED TODAY, FEBRUARY 02, 2024, AND WILL BE CLOSING NOVEMBER 10, 2024, FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON 

Boat rental availability is contingent on the weather. We are unable to conduct boat inspections under wet conditions. For best results on personal boats, the boat must be banded. 

We planned 3,000 pounds of Rainbow and 1,000 pounds of Lighting Trout from Mount Lassen at the boat launch on January 26, 2024

The San Pablo Reservoir Recreation Area offers exciting outdoor activities including fishing, boating, picnicking, kayaking and hiking. The park also has facilities for group events, weddings and meetings. San Pablo Recreation Area is located off San Pablo Dam Road between Orinda and El Sobrante.

Swimming and Paddle Boarding are not permitted at this lake, thank you for your cooperation.

For the Month of February Hours are 6:30 am – 5:00 pm

Boat Rentals must be rented by 1:30 pm

Last Launch for Personal Boats are at 2:00 pm

WE ARE TAKING RESERVATIONS MONDAY – THURSDAY FOR THE PICNIC GAZEBOS AT THE VISITORS CENTER ONLY. NO PHONE RESERVATIONS (EXCLUDING HOLIDAYS) 

We are open to all boat rental with the exception of Kayaks.

All private vessels must be launched at the boat launch area only!
Your vessel must be at least 7 ft. 10 inches in length. If it is inflatable, it must have at least 3 air chambers.

San Pablo Reservoir offers a six lane boat launch facility that can accommodate motor boats and kayak/canoe launching. All boats must be inspected prior to launching. Launch open 7 days a week.

EBMUD’s boat inspection program includes two parts: a history survey and a subsequent physical inspection. Boats that fail either the survey or the inspection cannot be legally launched in EBMUD reservoirs. KAYAKING/CANOEING

Sab Pablo Reservoir offers some of the best flat water kayaking and canoeing in the East Bay. Come for the day or just a few hours. Paddle along 14 miles of shoreline and discover sandy beaches, great fishing spots, and spectacular wildlife viewing.

BOAT RENTALS

Patio boats, motor boats, kayaks and row boats are available for rent daily. The aluminum fishing boats come equipped with a four stroke motor, which is ideal for fishing and cruising the waters of the reservoir. All rental boats must be returned and checked in 1 hour prior to closing the park.

Park Information
PICNICKING

The main recreation area and the boat launch offer picnic sites with tables and barbecues. All of the sites have lake views. The main recreation area has a children’s playground and lawn area. The visitor center and cafe are conveniently located. There are also 9 reservable picnic sites that can accommodate 25 to 100 people. Rates $90 to $300.

THE OAKS AND PINES GROUP SITES

A lush, beautiful park setting, perfect for your wedding, reception, anniversary, birthday party or other special event. Rustic, yet private, with lake views, each offers a spacious area for up to 100 guests. ADA accessible. For additional information, please contact the recreation area at 510-223-1661.

VISITOR CENTER/CAFE

The visitor center offers a complete array of fishing bait and tackle, as well as outdoor clothing, hats, sunscreen, gifts, and supplies. The Cafe offers premium coffee and a range of healthy snacks for everyone. A visitor’s pass (no entry fee) is available for up to one hour. Validation required.

WILDLIFE VIEWING

Bird watching opportunities feature flocks of white pelicans and migratory water fowl such as geese, ducks and shorebirds. Along the trails within the park, a viewer can see a variety of upland game species including wild turkey, quail and dove, and an array of predators such as eagles, ospreys, hawks and owls. Also be on the lookout for deer and bobcats.

Fishing Information

FISHING
San Pablo Reservoir is known as one of the finest fisheries in the East Bay. The visitor center offers fishing licenses for sale and a wide array of bait and tackle. The lake is stocked regularly with trout and catfish. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff are available to assist you with all your freshwater fishing and boating needs. They know the best fishing spots and can help you catch the BIG ONE!
