Lake Hodges is a lake and reservoir located in Southern California, about 31 miles north of San Diego and just south of Escondido, California. When full, the reservoir has 1,234 acres, a maximum water depth of 115 feet and 27 miles of shoreline. Lake Hodges is owned by the city of San Diego, and supplies water to the San Dieguito Water District and Santa Fe Irrigation District.
The recreation area has six barbecues and 12 picnic tables. Self contained gas barbecues are allowed in the picnic area. Ground fires, glass containers and camping are not allowed at the park. There is currently no drinking fountain. Make sure to bring your own water.
Lake Hodges will be closed the 3rd Wednesday of each month.

Operating Schedule
Lake Hodges is open for fishing and boating on a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday schedule from one-half hour before sunrise to sunset. All rentals must be back in by 5pm.
Rental boats are available all three days. Hodges rents rowboats, motorboats, single and double person kayaks.
NO OUTSIDE LAUNCHES ALLOWED AT THIS TIME. EXCEPT KAYAKS, CANOES, AND FLOAT TUBES. Maximum speed limit is 35 mph.

CONCESSION
Lake Hodges’ concession is open on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday only, from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Concession phone (760) 432-2023. There is a full-service snack bar with bait and tackle. You can also purchase fishing permits and California State fishing licenses. Boat rentals are available on a first come basis.

FISHING
Lake Hodges has largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, bullhead and carp. The minimum size limit for bass is 15 inches and 10 inches for crappie. Fish limits are five bass, five catfish, 25 crappie and bluegill in aggregate, with no limit on other species. Fishing permits are available at the concession (cash or card) and ranger pay stations (cash only). You must have a California State Fishing license if you are 16 years of age or older.
WATERCRAFT
Rental boats are available for fishing and recreational boating. Canoes, kayaks and float tubes are permitted. Float tubers must follow standard regulations which include waterproof waders, 144 sq. in. orange for visibility, horn or whistle and spare floatation device. Any float tube that uses oars or has a motor must purchase a private boat use permit. No swimming is allowed.

DIRECTIONS
From Interstate 15, exit Via Rancho Parkway and turn left on E. Via Rancho Parkway, turn left on Lake Drive, and continue to the reservoir entrance.
