This campground features 16 pull-through campsites. The many trees provide plenty of shade, but not much space for portable corrals. There is also a day use trailhead for the Klickitat Loop Trail #7A within the campground. Heading south on the Klickitat riders can tie into to the Spring Creek Trail #115 and the High Lakes Trail #116. |
The campground is a rustic site situated on a picturesque lake, and offers most campers a view of the water. Mt. Adams Wilderness is nearby as are numerous trails. The campground is small with only 11 campsites. It is located near the Mt. Adams Wilderness. |
Kalama Horse Camp is located just outside the west boundary of Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. 27 sites accommodate primarily equestrian users, with nearby access to trails for horseback riding, hiking and biking. Sixteen reservable campsites are for equestrians with trailers only. There are ten first come, first serve, standard non-equestrian sites, and one host site.
This campground is located in a high elevation stand of lodgepole pine and mixed conifers. There are 13 sites, 26 hi-line posts, one mounting ram and two manure bins. Water for stock is available. Bring your own drinking water. Mt. Adams Wilderness is just outside the campground to the south. Numerous trails are nearby including the High Lakes Trail #116, Keenes Trail #120 and Muddy Meadows Trail #13. Be sure to fill out a Wilderness Permit before riding in the Wilderness.
This large campground is located right off of US Highway 12 at the junction of the Clear Fork of the Cowlitz and the Ohanapecosh Rivers. It is situated in an old growth stand of Douglas Fir, Hemlock and Cedar. Most sites offer good privacy. The Purcell Falls Trail #162A and the Blue Hole Trail #167 originate from the campground and offer views of the falls and the Blue Hole along the Ohanapecosh. This is a great destination for those traveling through looking for an overnight stay and also makes a great central location for an extended stay while exploring the local area.
This campground is located near the Cispus River and right on the +AA14banks of the North Fork of the Cispus River. The campground includes three group sites and the main campground. Two trails are accessible directly from the campground. River Trail # 131 is a relatively flat .6 mile trail that goes behind the group sites. The North Fork Trail #122 is a 1.6 mile trail that starts behind the old Guard Station and climbs quickly to the bluff above the campground. Several vistas provide good views of the Cispus River.
